How Does Two-Way Synchronization Work?
A Two-Way Sync enables two data sources to mirror one another, regardless of which one of them is modified. All newly added or modified data in the primary source will be synchronized to the destination, and all newly available or modified data in the destination will be synchronized to the source. Two-way sync ensures that any two endpoints, whether they be a user mailbox, public folder, a shared calendar, or almost any two data sources, are not only connected but also always in sync.
Example:
Public Folders are a simple, efficient way to store publicly accessible company information. Therefore, having the ability to sync numerous data sources together would be extremely beneficial to organizations, especially when you need to find important contact information. With two-way synchronization, users can sync data back and forth across multiple public folders, ensuring that they are connected and updated anytime one of them is modified.
Another example is Outlook contacts. Organizations that use Outlook and want to sync their Global Address List (GAL) contacts with iPhones can do that with CiraSync.
What is One-Way Synchronization?
With one-way sync, data is only replicated in one direction—from the primary source to the secondary target. One-way sync transfers updated or newly added data from the source directory to the destination directory but does not transfer changed data from the destination back to the source. The information gets transcribed from its source to its destination (or the data is pulled from source to target, but always in only one direction).
Example:
With one-way synchronization, you could sync contacts from a Microsoft 365 user mailbox directly into a public folder. The sync funnel would continuously check for updates in the primary source (User Mailbox) and update the target source (Public Folder) whenever a change is made.
When is Two-Way Synchronization Helpful?
A Two-way Synchronization is often used when a company is looking to synchronize data from a variety of different data sources. With two-way sync, you can connect any two endpoints, whether it’s a business address book and Salesforce, a public folder to a shared calendar, or almost any two data sources.
Contacts and calendars can be easily managed at your workplace and on smart devices thanks to synchronization platforms such as CiraSync. For example, a two-way synchronization could be set up so that whenever a specific contact list is updated, it is also updated in the company address book and on linked smartphones.
What is Multi-Way Sync?
Synchronization across various endpoints of a collection of folders is referred to as multi-way synchronization. This can be used to support several users working on the same data set while sharing it across a wide area network and prevent unintentional overwrites. Multi-way synchronization is different from two-way sync because users can sync changes in the same folder across several locations rather than just two data sources.
Multi-way sync is changing the way businesses interact and sync information between a variety of different data sources. CiraHub is the premier multi-Way sync tool that allows organizations to sync, merge, and keep up-to-date contacts, calendars, and CRM data maintained. With CiraHub, users can automatically sync an unlimited number of shared contacts and calendars in Microsoft 365, on-Premise Exchange servers, and in G-Suite.
Field Mapping
Field mapping allows you to customize, map, and synchronize desired data. This feature can be especially helpful when you are looking to filter out and sync specific data to different individuals within an organization. Users can specify which fields of data records should be considered as well as how they should be mapped to one another with Field mapping. For example, you can manage your company’s data using CiraHub field mapping features by choosing a number of common fields that describe the exact same information and then syncing the data between the two.
Why Use CiraHub for Two-Way Synchronization?
With CiraHub, admins can choose which of these synchronization processes best suits the needs of their organization to better manage their data. CiraHub allows users to 2-Way Sync with Mailboxes, Public Folders, Directories, CRM’s SharePoint, G-Suite, Microsoft Enterprise Applications, and more. To sync items with CiraHub, a user logs into the CiraHub dashboard and attaches individual spokes from multiple sources to a Hub, toggle a two-way sync option in spoke settings, and click “Sync Now” to allow bi-directional sync every few hours between the spokes and the hub. You can add as many spokes as needed to include more contact sources or detach spokes to delete all data related to the detached spoke.
CiraHub also offers a clean and intuitive UI designed for easy setup for users that is perfect for organizations of all sizes. This platform allows a single admin to merge, edit, and sync multiple contact lists from different sources. Since Microsoft’s Outlook client doesn’t automatically sync contacts from sources, most organizations will need a third-party bi-directional sync solution. CiraHub is an excellent two-way sync platform for shared contacts and calendars for Microsoft 365, Exchange Server, and other Microsoft Enterprise Applications users.
