It’s not often we write about a competing product, but given the big news around\u00a0PieSync<\/a>\u00a0and their rather quiet delivery, we felt it prudent to chime in. It was announced a few days ago that\u00a0PieSync\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span>no longer accepting new customers<\/span><\/a>, and\u00a0instead\u00a0will become a part of HubSpot’s Operations Hub. Unfortunately for their customer base,\u00a0PieSync\u00a0will be discontinuing\u00a0operations\u00a0<\/span>at the end of 2021<\/span><\/a>. While this is likely great news for\u00a0Hubspot\u00a0customers, users who were looking to utilize\u00a0PieSync\u00a0as a stand-alone product they may or may not like the change. Existing\u00a0PieSync\u00a0customers will be enrolled in\u00a0Hubspot’s\u00a0free\u00a0plan;\u00a0though some base functionality may be limited by the change.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So why are we writing about all this?\u00a0CiraApps\u00a0and\u00a0PieSync\u00a0have a bit of an interesting history; several years ago, before their acquisition by\u00a0Hubspot,\u00a0\u00a0CiraSync<\/a> &\u00a0PieSync\u00a0worked\u00a0toward\u00a0developing cooperative blog content.\u00a0We charted one\u00a0anothers\u00a0progress for some time, and somewhat saw what\u00a0PieSync\u00a0provided\u00a0as filling in the second half of what\u00a0CiraSync\u00a0did not do at the time.\u00a0PieSync\u00a0was and continues to be a fantastic tool for syncing data across numerous applications, and\u00a0CiraSync\u00a0is the premier tool in getting that data into smartphone\u00a0users\u00a0hands.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Hubspot\u00a0acquisition was huge news for the team at\u00a0PieSync, and I can personally say the staff at\u00a0CiraApps\u00a0watched this unfold with great interest. During the past year,\u00a0PieSync\u00a0revitalized their platform, built a wonderful website, expanded their product’s functionality tremendously, and grew in ways companies often dream of. The team through and through did a phenomenal job marketing their\u00a0product, and\u00a0did an even better job designing it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So\u00a0what does this mean for\u00a0PieSync\u00a0users? Well, it puts a lot of them in a bit of a tough spot. For users who are already working with\u00a0Hubspot\u00a0or wish to – this is fantastic news,\u00a0PieSync’s\u00a0functionality will enhance\u00a0Hubspot\u00a0in\u00a0a number of\u00a0ways the platform could only have hoped for two years ago. For other users, they may find themselves locked out of a platform which was an integral part of their\u00a0day to day\u00a0life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Luckily, there is still a solution. In April of 2021,\u00a0CiraApps\u00a0Ltd. rolled out their new product – the\u00a0CiraHub<\/a>.\u00a0CiraHub\u00a0is a multi-way data synchronization tool which allows users to connect contacts and calendars across multiple platforms. For example, with\u00a0CiraHub\u00a0a user can quickly and easily set up a „Hub“ and several „Spokes“ which they can then connect to their Salesforce contacts, Active Campaign database, and an Outlook Mailbox to keep all the contacts in sync. That means when a contact is added, updated, or removed from one source, that change is instantly reflected in the other two databases. There’s no need to „push“ or „export“ contacts, it simply works. The functionality expands well beyond there – the same can be done with Calendars, other data sets, contacts between individuals, or even handle the merging of two company Global Address Lists. We find\u00a0its\u00a0easier for users to try the functionality for themselves and see how powerful it is – so we’ve launched a robust free trial.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But to the point at hand, we want to thank the\u00a0PieSync\u00a0team for all they’ve done over the years.\u00a0PieSync\u00a0has served as a source of inspiration for the team here at\u00a0CiraApps, along with a healthy competitor. While they’ll be missed as a stand-alone product, they’re a testament to the power of growth and innovation.
